Ni Neart Go Cur Le Cheile
There is no strength without unity
Sperrin Ogs are the underage teams of Tyrone GFC New York. Although the club has been in existence since 1949, the underage division was not created until 2011. Starting with a core group of U8 boys and girls the initiative developed over the next 2 years and by 2013 a U10 team was entered into the New York Minor Board Spring and Fall leagues with U8 and U6 teams following right behind. A U12 team entered in 2015 and summer 2014 saw the club attend their second Continental Youth Championship, this time in Randall's Island, NY. Our first experience, with a U10 team in Philadelphia in 2013, was a great success with 2014 seeing the U10s make it to semi-finals and the U8s making it to the final. Last year we competed in Chicago with the U10s making it to semi finals while the U12s won their division! 2017 sees our U14 team make their first appearance in the NY Minor Board competition and we hope to be represented in all ages groups at this years CYC in Buffalo, NY.

Our youth development program is aimed at paving the way for the future of our club while educating the kids involved in the values of Gaelic Games. The idea is that todays Sperrin Ogs will be tomorrows Seniors. The long term success of the club depends on our commitment to our youngest members. Further long term development is planned within the club with the eventual goal being to have male and female teams at all levels from U8 through Senior. Last year saw the introduction of a U8 development team in the Gaelige For Girls competition for the first time.
Our coaching staff firmly believe that the children learn best and will develop a long term love of the sport when their training and games take place in a friendly, encouraging and nurturing environment. All children are given their chance to play and all wear their club colors with pride. We try to emulate our club motto "Ni Neart Go Cur Le Cheile" (there is no strength without unity) on a daily basis. The children wear the motto on their shirt sleeves in every game to remind them that they are a team supporting each other through both the good and not so good times on the field. We take great pride in watching their development both on and off the pitch and we are very conscious of the trust their parents have placed in us. At Sperrin Ogs the parents are an integral part of the club and we thank them for their commitment and dedication to us. They are helping to secure our long term future.
Watch our kids having fun!
